Google makes it easier to contact company hotlines. Users won’t have to wait in long lines or struggle to understand the poor voice guidance provided by voice computers.
Smartphones often neglect the telephony function and are sometimes considered exhausted in their development. Google’s new features for hotline calling show that it is possible to make significant improvements to the telephony function. This is an important application for traditional telephony. Private communication has been shifted to messenger platforms.
The “Wait Times”, a new feature that Android has added to the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 Pro models, is now available in the Android phone app. It will also be available on other smartphones later. Clicking on the company’s hotline number will show users how long it takes to wait for their call.
Voice menus are easy to use
This is possible because Google needs to collect data from its Android platform users in order to make this work. This data measures the time a call is initiated and the time it ends. This means that the feature will only be available to companies with a statistically significant number of callers.
Google also offers the Direct My Call feature. The phone app can recognize when the user connects to a voice machine and will then navigate through its menu navigation. The display then displays the transcription of the selection points, which can be selected by one click. It is therefore not necessary to speak the selection into your phone. This could lead to confusion and possibly even cause you not being understood. This is especially important if you plan to use this language system in public.
